Icy Conditions Along With Freezing Fog Wreaking Havoc On The Roads

| December 11, 2018 @ 7:39 am

As of 7:20 am this morning, leftover moisture on the roadways and bridges, along with the freezing fog that has developed across the area is causing some travel issues out there on the highways and other roads.

The latest traffic map from ABC 33/40 shows major delays all across the Birmingham Metropolitan Area, especially on the elevated surfaces and overpasses.

We know of I-459 northbound at Overton Road is shut down due to a major accident involving three 18-wheelers and a car.

I-65 northbound at exit 246 has been reopened after road crews were able to get out there and sand down the bridge.

There are plenty of accidents and icy spots out there delaying the start to nearly everyone’s workday. Just be patient out there on the roadways or if you can delay the trip into the office for a couple of hours, conditions will improve.
