Freezing Fog Advisory Extended, Roadways Are Still A “Big Ole Mess”

| December 11, 2018 @ 8:46 am

NWS Birmingham extends the Freezing Fog Advisory until 10:00 am CST for Autauga, Bibb, Blount, Calhoun, Chambers, Cherokee, Chilton, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Etowah, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Marengo, Marion, Perry, Pickens, Randolph, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Talladega, Tallapoosa, Tuscaloosa, Walker, and Winston counties.

Visibilities are still dropping in some areas down to less than 1/4 mile at times. Add that to the temperatures still coming in below freezing, slick spots on bridges and elevated surfaces will continue to be an issue for at least the next 60-90 minutes.

Be sure that you leave plenty of distance between yourself and the vehicle in front of you, and please be patient if you are out on the roadways.

The latest traffic map for the Birmingham Metropolitan Area continues to show major delays on most of the major roadways leading into the city. For the latest on traffic and school delays, visit ABC3340.com.
