Alabama continues in an active upper level wind pattern this morning.

With relatively moist and unstable air in place, showers and storms are the result.

An area of showers and storms is over southern Walker and northern Tuscaloosa Counties, moving east toward the Birmingham Metro. Most of the lightning is between Jasper, Cordova and Parrish.

Others showers extend from the Huntsville area through Athens over to Tuscumbia and down into Franklin County. This activity was pushing southeastward.

The outflow from last nights convective actviity will act as a little frontal zone today and storms to the west will ride along it. The result could be an active day. The SPC has the northern half of the state outlooked for severe weather for the next 24 hours and much of the state for tomorrow.

There are signs that the threat for tornadoes will increase as we head into Sunday.

So, keep an eye to the sky and monitor the latest weather through the weekend.
