Threat Of Marginally Severe Storms Has Now Ended For Southeastern Parts Of Central Alabama
The main squall line has now exited the eastern parts of Russell and Barbour counties bringing to an end the threat of severe storms for the night. After a few severe thunderstorm warnings throughout the southern parts of the area and a tornado warning for portions of Pike and Barbour counties, we have only had one report of damage.
Trees were reported downed on power lines near State Highway 51 and CR-11 in the town of Clayton in Barbour County, believed to be caused by thunderstorm wind gusts.
The heaviest rainfall continues to fall over the extreme eastern parts of the area and extending over the state line into western Georgia. Behind that, we have more showers extending roughly from Double Springs to Tuscaloosa to Marion. Those showers are directly ahead of the cold front which has now entered the northwestern parts of the area. There is a wide spread in the temperatures at this point, with 64 degrees in Eufaula and down to 43 degrees in Haleyville. Birmingham was at 54 degrees at 7:50 PM.
