More Records Falling

Tuscaloosa hit 96 just after noon today to establish a new record high for May 26th. The previous record was 95F set in 1996 and 2012.

Since then, the mercury has risen for 97F. This is a full four degrees warmer than it was at the same time yesterday when a record high of 97F occurred. at the rate they’re going, they could break 100F today in Tuscaloosa.

Birmingham is also four degrees ahead of the same time yesterday. The high at BHM yesterday was 94F, so a record could be broken at the airport today.

The average high for May 26th at Birmingham is 84F.

Not contemplating any changes in the forecast. A chance of showers and storms does return late Thursday and into Friday, with temperatures backing off a smidge for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. But the prospects for significant rains look bleak for the next couple of weeks.
