EAST BREEZE: With high pressure to the north, and low pressure to the south, a deep easterly flow will continue across Alabama today, with winds gusting to 30 mph at times. Clouds will increase, and a few scattered showers should show up this afternoon. Most likely, the showers will initially be over East Alabama, then moving to the west. Nothing heavy or widespread, just a few scattered showers. The high today will be in the mid to upper 70s.

TOMORROW AND THROUGH THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND: Our surface low in the Gulf will slowly move toward the coast, and a moist airmass will remain in place statewide. It still looks like the most widespread and heaviest rain will be over the southern third of the state, where 5 inches or so is possible along the coast. Up this way, are are talking the chance of passing showers on a daily basis through Sunday. No severe weather, nothing especially heavy, but just keep in mind outdoor activities will be delayed at times due to the showers. Sunshine will be limited, and highs will remain mostly in the 77 to 80 degree range. We do expect the rain to be more widespread Monday as the surface low is inland, and positioned west of Alabama.

BEACH WEEKEND: Sunshine will be rather limited along the Gulf coast through the weekend; only about one to two hours of sunshine each day with a good chance of showers and thunderstorms from time to time, with potential for locally heavy rain. The NWS in Mobile has issued a gale warning for offshore waters; winds along the immediate coast will gust as high as 30 mph, and rough surf and rip tides are very possible all the way from Panama City west to Gulf Shores. Afternoon highs will be very close to 80 degrees, and the sea water temperature at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab last night was 73 degrees.

NEXT WEEK: Copious moisture will remain over Alabama, and we expect scattered to numerous showers and storms on a daily basis through much of next week.
