WET AT TIMES: The deep easterly flow continues across Alabama this afternoon, as we are between high pressure to the north and low pressure to the south, in the Gulf. Atlantic moisture has arrived, and light rain is falling over parts of Alabama, especially the eastern counties. This light rain will be moving west tonight; nothing heavy, but just keep in mind occasional showers are likely tonight (there are a number of outdoor high school graduation ceremonies tonight).

TOMORROW AND THE WEEKEND: The weather won’t change much through Sunday. Mostly cloudy and breezy with occasional showers. No severe weather, and initially the heaviest rain will be over South Alabama, where the coast could see over 3 inches of rain. Afternoon highs will remain generally in the 77 to 80 degree range with only very limited amounts of sunshine.

Deep moisture will cover Alabama on Memorial Day, and as the Gulf low moves inland showers and storms should become more widespread across North Alabama, and scattered to numerous showers and storms will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday. There is some hint of drying around here by the end of next week on Thursday and Friday.

GULF COAST WEATHER: Our system in the Gulf will mean periods of rain for the Gulf coast (Panama City to Gulf Shores) through Memorial Day, with potential for heavy rain at times. Gusty winds will continue, and rough surf is likely. On the positive side, there should be some decent breaks in the rain, but don’t look for much sunshine. The sea water temperature at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab is 74 degrees at mid-afternoon.
