SPC Mesoscale Discussion: Severe Potential… Watch Unlikely
SUMMARY…An isolated threat for damaging wind and hail will persist for the next couple of hours, though a WW issuance probably will not be needed.
DISCUSSION…A couple of areas remain a focus for convection across the discussion area – one from near NQA eastward to just north of MSL associated with a remnant outflow boundary and another near/just east of UOX. Though instability within the pre-convective airmass is relatively strong, weak shear is causing many of these updrafts to be undercut by cool near-surface outflow, limiting the longevity of any severe threat. Still, a few storms will contain an hail/wind risk over the next hour or two – especially north through northwest of MSL. A WW issuance is not anticipated for this activity.
