Record Breaking Lows Earlier This Morning

| July 25, 2019 @ 8:41 am

It’s not hard to believe that I had to bring the Donna Reed animated GIF back out of storage for record-breaking temperatures, but was not expecting to use it for record lows in the summertime. Records were tied or set this morning with the cooler and drier airmass in place over Central Alabama. Here is the list of locations where record lows were tied or set…

Birmingham 60º – tied the previous record low of 60º set way back in 1911.

Tuscaloosa 63º – breaking the previous record low of 64º set back in 2003.

Here are some of the coolest lows set this morning across the area…

Oneonta (Blount Co.) 52º
Terrapin Creek (Cleburne Co.) 55º
Forney (Cherokee Co.) 56º
Schoolhouse (Clay Co.) 56º
Sardis City (Etowah Co.) 56º
Pinson (Jefferson Co.) 56º
Hamilton (Marion Co.) 56º
Delta (Randolph Co.) 56º
Helena (Shelby Co., home of Brian Peters) 56º
Oxford (Talladega Co.) 56º

The latest look at the information for tonight suggest that it will be another cool night across Central Alabama tonight and through the pre-dawn hours on Friday, but we won’t get down quite as low as we should see temperatures in the 62º-68º range across the area from northwest to southeast. Let’s hope we don’t have to use this GIF this summer for record heat.
