NORTHEAST FLORIDA
Active thunderstorms over NE Florida. At least 11 Severe Thunderstorm Warnings issued by NWS Jacksonville and Tallahassee this morning and one Tornado Warning. A wall cloud near St. Augustine triggered the Tornado Warning. Radar indicated the wall cloud was rotating.

COLUMBUS, GA
We have two big rain totals from there this morning, 2.40 inches and 2.37. Both reports official. This interests us because directly across the Chattahoochee River (gosh, what a long word!) is Phenix City, Alabama so they probably were soaked also. Several clusters of thunderstorms moved SE across the general area during the night. We believe that other parts of Extreme East Alabama had beneficial overnight amounts also–from Cherokee County southward across Cleburne, Randolph, Chambers, Lee and Russell Counties. Not everybody got rain, of course.

ALABAMA NOW
Very quiet across the state late this morning. Slightly cooler air trying to push westward from Georgia and the Carolinas. It is a pleasant 77 atop Mt. Cheaha at 10:30 am and east winds as high as 23 mph. (33/40 Skycam) The mean ole thermometer will exceed 90, however, over our western counties this afternoon.

GEORGIA/FLORIDA RAIN AMOUNTS
We cheer for our Georgia and Florida neighbors as they get more good rain amounts. Some of the wild fires are not completely out but are generally under control. These amounts overnight:
2.40 at Columbus
1.07 Macon
1.50 Savannah
1.61 Albany
0.91 Daytona

LIGHTNING IS FRIGHTENING
12 cows killed by lightning last evening just off highway 16 near Warrenton, Ga.

100 OR HOTTER YESTERDAY IN ALABAMA (PARTIAL LIST)
100 in Montgomery (Dannelly Field), Evergreen, Demopolis, Dothan, Centreville, Clanton, Selma, Helena
101 Tuscaloosa, Columbiana, Livingston, Montgomery (separate report from the airport)

USA EXTREMES
110 yesterday in Death Valley
26 this morning Stanley, Idaho
