Late Saturday Evening Look At Our Weather Situation

| August 31, 2019 @ 7:47 pm

At 7:30 pm, we have a boundary that is slowly working northward over the southeastern parts of Central Alabama and down into South Alabama that continues to have active showers and thunderstorms along and south of it. Those scattered thunderstorms stretch across from Fort Deposit over to near Troy and Brundidge and over to Eufaula.

Nearly all of the activity remains south of the I-85 corridor but a few isolated showers have worked across to the north of that. All of this activity is moving slowly off to the west.

The latest HRRR has all of the action dying off around midnight tonight and we’ll remain dry throughout the overnight hours. Overnight lows will be in the mid-60s to the lower 70s with clear skies for most and partly cloudy skies for the southeast

The boundary will work northward and end up around or just north of the I-59 corridor. We’ll have isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms possible along and south of that boundary as we reach the peak heating of the day through the late afternoon and into the evening hours. Showers will diminish in coverage after sunset, but a few showers may linger into the late-night hours. Afternoon highs will be in the upper 80s to the lower 90s.

We’ll see no effects from Hurricane Dorian with the current forecast track from the National Hurricane Center. We’ll have a ridge build in starting on Monday which will push Dorian and looks to mostly keep it offshore next week. That ridge will bring us much drier air throughout the week but afternoon highs will still mostly be in the upper 80s to the mid-90s.
