| September 1, 2019 @ 5:13 pm

As the National Weather Association’s annual meeting approaches, there is a 100% chance of fun and learning at WeatherReady Fest! On Saturday, September 7th, meteorologists from across the nation will converge upon Huntsville for an epic community outreach event: Rocket City WeatherReady Fest 2019! From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., WeatherReady Fest will provide a deluge of hands-on activities and special events for children and adults of all ages at the UAH Charger Student Union and adjacent Shelby Center.

This popular event is hosted by a different city every year, kicking off the National Weather Association’s annual meeting, which means our nation’s top meteorologists will be in attendance! From Alabama’s very own James Spann to The Weather Channel’s Nick Walker to “How the Weather Works” Mike Mogil, these and many more renowned meteorologists will bring their expertise to WeatherReady Fest.

The NWA Foundation’s annual WeatherReady Fest promotes weather preparedness through a wide range of activities. Guests can watch weather balloon launches, climb inside real storm chasing vehicles, interact directly with numerous exhibitors, listen to fascinating speakers, and take tours of the National Weather Service Office or SWIRLL. Children will enjoy exciting stage shows, hands-on activities and fun demonstrations. They will have a blast learning how to be a Young Meteorologist in a special program on the center stage. Owlie Skywarn & other mascots will be there to pump up the energy! Participants who complete the Weather Passport will qualify for door prizes drawings, held throughout the day.

For more information, visit the festival website at www.weatherreadyfest.com. Admission to the WeatherReady Fest event is free. Guests are encouraged to get their free timed tickets at the website.
