Freeze Watches Upgraded To Freeze Warnings

NWS Birmingham has issued a FREEZE WARNING for Bibb, Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Etowah, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Marengo, Marion, Perry, Pickens, Randolph, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Talladega, Tuscaloosa, Walker, & Winston counties starting tonight at 10:00 pm and set to expire Saturday at 8 am.

NWS Huntsville has issued a FREEZE WARNING for Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall, Morgan counties starting tonight at 10:00 pm and set to expire Saturday at 8 am.

FREEZE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 8 AM CST SATURDAY

* WHAT…Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 25 expected.

* WHEN…From 10 PM this evening to 8 AM CST Saturday.

* IMPACTS…Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
