A Brief Update On Our Weather Situation As Of 7:15 AM

At 7:15 am, we continue to see widely scattered to numerous showers for much of Central Alabama with a line of rain and thunderstorms associated with a cold front pushing slowly through the southeastern parts of the area. No severe watches or warnings are in effect at the moment.

There is no threat for severe storms behind the cold front, but a Marginal Risk for severe storms (level 1 of 5) is up for the southeastern portions of Central Alabama until the front moves out of the area and completely into Georgia. There is only a very small threat of isolated damaging winds and an even lower threat of a brief tornado for the risk locations. It will take a little while for the front to move out as the latest HRRR model run shows the exit occurring around 12-1pm this afternoon.

Cooler and more stable air is beginning to work in behind the front, but rain will continue at times across Central Alabama through the entire day today and possibly into the morning hours on Sunday. The good news is that the rainfall should not be as heavy as we say on Thursday.
