Flood Watch Issued for Parts of Alabama

The NWS in Birmingham has issued a flood watch that will go into effect at 3 p.m. this afternoon and last until 6 p.m. Thursday.

Counties included in the watch are:
Autauga, Bibb, Blount, Bullock, Calhoun, Chambers, Cherokee, Chilton, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Etowah, Jefferson, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Montgomery, Perry, Pike, Randolph, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, and Tallapoosa.

Rounds of showers and storms through Thursday afternoon will cause 2-4 inches of rain to fall across the watch area.

Flooding could result.

Monitor rainfall during the event and pay attention to flood warnings that could be issued.

There is also a severe weather threat on Wednesday for all of Alabama. The greatest threat is west of a line from Huntsville to Gadsden, Talladega, Tuskegee, and Eufaula.
