Lots of Lightning and Thunder in the Birmingham Metro, But These Storms Not Severe

There is lots of loud thunder, shaking windows around the Birmingham Metro at this hour, but these storms are below severe limits.

Storms with heavy rain are along I-59 from McCalla to Liberty Park. Lots of lightning and thunder and heavy rain.

A long line of rain and storms extends from Northeast Alabama’s Sand Mountain around Albertville down to Blountsville to Warrior to Adamsville to Tuscaloosa and back to stronger storms over Sumter County.

A severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect for Sumter County until 12:30 a.m.

A tornado watch continues until 5 a.m. for much of West Central Alabama, but the watch does not include Jefferson County.

Stay tuned for the latest severe weather information throughout the night until the cold front and line of storms passes your location. It will be a long night and early morning, with the storms not getting out of East Central Alabama until after 9 a.m.
