Areal Flood Warning For Parts Of Tuscaloosa, Pickens, Shelby, Greene, Bibb, Jefferson, Sumter Counties Until 12:15 AM Thursday

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Flood Warning for…
Tuscaloosa County in west central Alabama…
Pickens County in west central Alabama…
Shelby County in central Alabama…
Greene County in west central Alabama…
Central Bibb County in central Alabama…
Jefferson County in central Alabama…
Northwestern Sumter County in west central Alabama…

* Until 1215 AM CST Tuesday.

* At 612 PM CST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
that two to four inches of rain has fallen over the area. Flooding
is ongoing in many locations and residual flooding is likely to
continue. An additional one half to one inch of rain is possible
over the next six hours.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Alabaster,
Bessemer, Homewood, Northport, Pelham, Mountain Brook, Trussville,
Helena, Hueytown, Gardendale, Irondale, Leeds, Moody, Calera,
Fairfield and Chelsea.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
