A Beautiful Weekend Ahead; Rain Returns Late On Monday

| March 7, 2020 @ 6:00 am

A BEAUTIFUL & DRY SATURDAY
After starting the morning off in the upper 20s to the mid-30s, we’ll make a nice recovery through the day. We’ll have maximum sunshine and highs will top out in the upper 50s to the lower 60s across the area. Skies will remain clear through the evening, but a few clouds will move in during the overnight hours. Lows will dip into the mid to upper 30s for most with the colder valleys reaching the lower 30s.

IT’S TIME TO SPRING FORWARD
Don’t forget to set those clocks ahead one hour before heading off to bed. Daylight Saving starts very early on Sunday morning. This will also be a good time to put fresh batteries in your NOAA WeatherRadios and smoke alarms.

JUST A TOUCH WARMER ON SUNDAY
High pressure will be dominating our weather which means we’ll have another outstanding day for Sunday as skies will be mostly sunny and highs maxing out in the lower to mid-60s across the area.

SHOWERS RETURN TO START THE WORK WEEK
A trough advances toward the area on Monday, which will push the high pressure off of the east coast. That will increase the flow of warmer and moisture-rich air across Central Alabama. Some light showers may be possible by the late afternoon hours, but showers will become likely especially for the north and western parts of the area during the evening hours. A few rumbles of thunder will be possible, but no organized strong storms are expected. Highs will reach the mid-60s to the lower 70s.

RAIN CHANCES STAY WITH US FOR THE REST OF THE WORK WEEK
Showers and a few thunderstorms can be expected on Tuesday as a wet pattern sets up over the top of us through at least the end of the workweek. Highs will be in the upper 60s to the lower 70s.

Wednesday will be much of the same as more showers are expected to move into Central Alabama by the late morning to early afternoon hours. A few thunderstorms may be possible late, but stronger storms are not expected at this time. Highs will be in the lower to mid-70s for most, with some in the extreme southern parts reaching the upper 70s.

Thursday will be another day we can expect a good chance of showers and thunderstorms moving across the area throughout the entire day. Once again, stronger storms are not expected. Highs will be in the upper 60s to the upper 70s.

Much of the same story for your Friday… more showers and a clap of thunder or two will remain likely as the work week comes to an end. Afternoon highs will be in the upper 60s to the mid-70s.

COME JOIN US FOR THE FIRST CENTRAL ALABAMA NWA CHAPTER MEETING OF 2020
The Central Alabama Chapter of the National Weather Association will hold its first meeting of 2020 on Tuesday evening, March 31st at Vulcan Park. The guest speaker for the evening will be Dr. David Roueche, assistant professor of civil engineering at Auburn University. He will be speaking on the findings of his and his team’s research done on mobile/manufactured homes and other weak-framed housing issues in Alabama when dealing with severe weather. This will be an important topic as over the past 15 months, we have seen numerous deaths occurring in mobile/manufactured homes during severe weather events. For more information, please visit the chapter’s GroupSpaces site.
