Flood Advisory for Calhoun, Chambers, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Elmore, Etowah, Randolph, Talladega, Tallapoosa Counties Until 1:45 am

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Flood Advisory for…
Talladega County in east central Alabama…
Elmore County in east central Alabama…
Randolph County in east central Alabama…
Calhoun County in east central Alabama…
Southeastern Etowah County in northeastern Alabama…
Tallapoosa County in east central Alabama…
Chambers County in east central Alabama…
Cleburne County in east central Alabama…
Coosa County in east central Alabama…
Clay County in east central Alabama…

* Until 145 AM CDT.

* At 1044 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain continuing. This will cause areas of flooding in the
advisory area. Around 2 to 5 inches of rain have fallen, with
additional rain expected over the next few hours.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Prattville, Anniston, Oxford, Talladega, Alexander City, Millbrook,
Sylacauga, Jacksonville, Rainbow City, Valley, Wetumpka, Lanett,
Roanoke, Childersburg, Piedmont, Tallassee, Heflin, Dadeville,
Lineville and Ashland.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
