4 p.m. Update on Cristobal: Center Nearing Landfall Near the Mouth of the Mississippi River

| June 7, 2020 @ 4:07 pm

The broad center of Tropical Storm Cristobal is very near the Mouth of the Mississipi River between Grand Isle, Pilotown, Buras, and Venice.

We are waiting of the NHC to call landfall of the storm.

But it is a moot point because the large size of the storm is causing widespread wind, surge, heavy rain, tornadoes, and rip currents along a large area of the Gulf Coast.

Winds just gusted to 48 mph at Gulfport in that main feeder band that is pulling on to the Mississippi and Alabama coast.

US 90 is now closed from the Bay St. Louis Bridge to the Biloxi Bay Bridge. The surge at Waveland is now 5.6 feet.

Other storms are pushing across the Florida Panhandle toward South Alabama. These storms will be affecting places like Brewton, Atmore, Monroeville, Chatom, Jackson, and Evergreen over the next few hours. Storms back near Enterprise and Dothan will be moving up near Luverne and Greenville.
