Early Afternoon Radar Check

| July 4, 2020 @ 1:25 pm

We are watching the radar as showers and storms are popping up across the Alabama landscape. The general motion of these are mainly from the east to west across the state again today.

Most of the activity currently is showers, but storms will be developing and any storms today will produce loads of lightning, intense rainfall, and strong, gusty winds. Lots of heat and humidity means lots of instability, so do not be surprised if we see an isolated severe storm or two this afternoon. If a storm reaches severe limits, the main concern would be damaging wind gusts.

Showers and storms will continue popping up through the afternoon hours, and these will continue into the evening hours, but should gradually wind down with the loss of daytime heating, and hopefully will not impact any fireworks shows still scheduled for later this evening.
