Strong Storms Affecting Parts of Tuscaloosa & Jefferson Counties

…SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SOUTHEASTERN TUSCALOOSA AND
SOUTHERN JEFFERSON COUNTIES UNTIL 200 PM CDT…

At 127 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from Deerlick Creek Campgrounds to Vestavia Hills.
Movement was north at 15 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include…
Birmingham, eastern Tuscaloosa, Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Bessemer,
Homewood, Mountain Brook, Hueytown, Fairfield, Holt, Pleasant Grove,
Tarrant, Midfield, Brighton, Lipscomb, Lake View, Brookwood, Coaling,
Vance and North Johns.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
