Flood Advisory for Parts of Autauga, Elmore, & Montgomery Co. Until 2:15 am

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for…
Southeastern Autauga County in central Alabama…
Southwestern Elmore County in east central Alabama…
Northwestern Montgomery County in south central Alabama…

* Until 215 AM CDT.

* At 1112 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding.
Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.

Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Montgomery, Prattville, Millbrook, Wetumpka, Elmore, Coosada,
Deatsville, Bob Woodruff Lake, Boylston, Montgomery Zoo,
Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium, Gunter Air Force Base, Alabama State
Capitol, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama State University, Lagoon
Park, Hunter, Eastdale Mall, Blue Ridge and Woodcrest.

Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is expected over the area. This
additional rain will result in minor flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses
as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
