The Anniston/Oxford Downpour

| August 12, 2009 @ 7:02 am | 7 Replies

It happened late yesterday afternoon. A real “frog-strangler” for the Anniston-Oxford area in East Alabama.

At the Anniston Airport (which is really in Oxford) the storm dumped 2.17 inches of rain mostly in one hour. This brought the total for the year so far to 37.42 inches–an excess (or surplus) of 2.06 inches.

We had two other reports from Oxford. A private individual reported 1.65 inches mostly in only 30 minutes. It caused some flooding in and around his work place.

The 33/40 Skywatcher in Oxford reported almost two inches with severe lightning.
