Flash Flood Watches Issued to the Northwest; Tornadoes Possible Today as Well

| August 28, 2020 @ 6:40 am

Tropical Depression Laura is over northeastern Arkansas this morning. It is losing tropical characteristics as it moves northeast toward the Ohio Valley.

There is a tornado warning in northern Mississippi including the area around Oxford. A slight risk for severe weather covers northwestern Alabama, northern Mississippi, and much of the western half of Tennessee today where tornadoes are possibly associated with the remnants of Laura.

The Weather Prediction Center has a slight risk for flooding some of the same areas:

Several flash flood watches are in effect for areas from Northwest Alabama back into southeastern Missouri and eastern Arkansas.

We will be monitoring for both issues today across Alabama as the remnants of laura pass to our north.
