An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

MOIST AIR LINGERS: Looks like the promised push of cooler and drier air won’t reach us until Sunday night, so we will have to maintain the chance of a few passing showers and thunderstorms through the weekend. No total wash-out, but a shower or storm will be possible at just about anytime through Sunday afternoon. The NAM is printing an additional 1.29″ of rain here, while the GFS is a little drier with 0.70″.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TONIGHT: The chance of any one stadium getting wet tonight is about one in three; temperatures will be mostly in the mid to upper 70s during the games with rather high humidity levels. There could be a little thunder/lightning in spots, but it looks like mostly rain showers. So, take along the rain gear just in case…

NEXT WEEK: Delightful weather is the story for much of next week as continental air takes over. We should be in the 50s early Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday morning, with highs in the 80 to 85 degree range. For now the latter half of the week looks rain-free as well.

TROPICS: Tropical Storm Danny will sideswipe the upper Atlantic coast of the U.S. tomorrow and tomorrow night; top winds are only 40 mph as the system remains rather disorganized. No major problems are expected, although the weather will be wet at times and windy along the immediate coast from the Outer Banks of North Carolina to the coast of Maine. The system could strengthen slightly, but it is now expected to remain below hurricane strength.

The wave in the East Atlantic is forecast to become Tropical Storm Erika over the weekend; a weakness in the ridge north of the system should allow a general northwest movement over the next few days. This means the system will most likely pass north of the Caribbean, and recurve in the Atlantic. One way or another we will continue to watch this one.
