Update for Jefferson County and City of Birmingham; More Storms Over Mississippi Will Affect Us Later

| March 17, 2021 @ 4:20 pm

Two circulations are moving through western Jefferson County right now.

The first is near Rock Creek and Sylvan Springs, approaching Alliance, moving toward Adamsville.

The second is near just to the southwest, near Rock Creek, moving toward Sylvan Springs. This possible tornado will move toward Rock Creek, Sylvan Springs, Mulga, Forestdale, Fultondale, and Gardendale.

The tornado warning polygon includes northern parts of the City of Birmingham, including the BJCC Downtown Birmingham, and North Birmingham. So be in safe shelter in those areas as well.

The circulations are certainly weaker than they were earlier.

The warning for Tuscaloosa County has been canceled. The storm has moved out of Tuscaloosa County.

Storms to the south over Choctaw County will be moving into Marengo County. Storms near Selma and southwest of Marion Junction will be moving northeast and affecting Chilton, Autauga, and Coosa Counties eventually.

And storms are starting to fire over Northeast Mississippi as advertised. These storms will affect Northwest Alabama over the next few hours. Additional storms are moving into Southwest Mississippi. These storms will affect West Central and Central Alabama later this evening.
