CANCELED Tornado Warning for Parts of Greene, Pickens, and Sumter Counties til 9 pm

As noted, we are watching a circulation moving out of Mississippi.

The circulation is tightening just northwest of Emelle.

Folks around Gainesville, Geiger, and Union should be in safe shelter.

If it holds together the storm will move toward Tuscaloosa. It is riding the northern edge of an instability boundary.

The storms are moving very quickly.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Tornado Warning for…
Southeastern Pickens County in west central Alabama…
Northern Greene County in west central Alabama…
Northwestern Sumter County in west central Alabama…

* Until 900 PM CDT.

* At 801 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located over Electric Mills, or 17 miles north of Lauderdale,
moving northeast at 60 mph.

HAZARD…Tornado.

SOURCE…Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT…Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
damage is likely.

Union, Gainesville, Emelle, New West Greene, Mantua, Panola, Jena,
West Greene, Knoxville, Benevola, Geiger, Snoddy, Warsaw, New Mount
Hebron, Clinton, Pleasant Ridge, Pioneer and Lewiston.
