Areal Flood Advisory for Parts of Fayette, Lamar, Walker Co. Until 2:00 pm

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for…
Walker County in central Alabama…
Fayette County in west central Alabama…
Lamar County in west central Alabama…

* Until 200 PM CDT.

* At 1100 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding.

Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Jasper, Winfield, Fayette, Sumiton, Cordova, Dora, Carbon Hill,
Vernon, Sulligent, Millport, Berry, Parrish, Oakman, Glen Allen,
Kennedy, Sipsey, Kansas, Nauvoo, Belk and Beaverton.

Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is expected over the area over
the next few hours. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.
