Severe Thunderstorm Watch Canceled; Threat of Severe Storms Diminishing

| May 9, 2021 @ 10:09 pm

NWS Birmingham has canceled the Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Fayette, Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Walker, and Winston counties as the threat for severe storms has dissipated enough to no longer warrant the watch.

The line oh heavy rain and storms continue to move east-southeastward and is now approaching the I-59 corridor in the Central parts of the area and moving across up in the northeastern parts of the area.

NWS Birmingham just released their latest Hazardous Weather Outlook for tonight, and it states that there is no hazardous weather expected at this time.

The line is passing over my house and winds are still gusting pretty strong and rainfall is really heavy. So I would say a few strong storms will continue to be possible with gusty winds, but the threat of severe storms have ended.
