| May 20, 2021 @ 10:17 am

The upper ridge is intensifying across the Deep South, meaning continued dry weather and rising temperatures. Today and tomorrow will feature a mostly sunny sky with highs in the mid to upper 80s, with a few low 90s down to the south tomorrow. It remains breezy with persistent easterly winds of 10-20 mph, with higher gusts.

The closest rain to the state is over Southeast Louisiana and Southwest Mississippi, but unfortunately, it will not make it to Alabama.

90S RETURN THIS WEEKEND: The weather stays dry and we are forecasting a good supply of sunshine both Saturday and Sunday. The first widespread 90s of the year will return to Alabama as most of Alabama will see highs in the low 90s both days.

WAITING ON ANA: The fist named storm of the system looks to develop very soon in the open Atlantic…A non-tropical low pressure system is located about 800 miles east of Bermuda. The low is expected to develop gale-force winds later today while it moves generally northward. The low is then forecast to move westward and southwestward over warmer waters tonight and Friday, and it will likely become a subtropical cyclone near and to the northeast of Bermuda on Friday. The system is expected to move toward the north and northeast into a more hostile environment by late Sunday into Monday. For more information on this developing low pressure area, please see High Seas forecasts issued by the NOAA Ocean Prediction Center and forecast products issued by the Bermuda Weather Service.
