| October 4, 2009 @ 10:07 am | Reply

Rain covers nearly all of Arkansas, the northern half of Mississippi and extreme northern Louisiana this morning.

The rain is developing ahead of a northward moving warm front.

In Alabama, rain has spread into the northwestern part of the state, over Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin and northern Marion Counties.
Patches of rain extended eastward across the northern third of the state.

Showers were moving northeastward over West Central and Southwest Alabama. The heaviest rain extends from Pickens, through Greene, Sumter, Hale and Marengo Counties.

This activity will continue to lift northward and fill in into the afternoon hours.

No lightning yet, although embedded storms will be possible later.

Rain will continue through the overnight hours into early Monday morning. Rainfall amounts will average around 1.25 inches, with some amounts over 1.5 inches likely.

No flash flood watches are in effect for Alabama, although some maybe required later if heavier rain develops.

It is the beginning of a shift to a wetter pattern again that will be with us until next Saturday, with temporary breaks Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning, then again Wednesday into Thursday.
