Midday Nowcast: Sunshine is Back in Full Supply

| December 22, 2021 @ 10:16 am

High pressure is building in over the Deep South, bringing dry air and sunshine back to the state. In fact, looking at the visible satellite, I do not see a cloud in the Alabama sky today.

Temperatures remain cool with most locations in the low 50s. Tonight will be clear and cold as temperatures fall into the 20s. Tomorrow, expect a big warm-up under a sky full of sunshine again, highs return to the low 60s.

ACROSS THE USA: A series of Pacific and Bering Sea storms will bring periods of heavy low elevation rain, mountain snow and gusty winds to the Western U.S. and Alaska through the holiday weekend. A storm strengthening off the East Coast today will produce hazardous marine conditions and areas of ice and heavy snow across New England. Elevated to critical fire weather conditions for the front range into Thursday.

CHRISTMAS EVE & CHRISTMAS DAY: The warming trend continues and spring-like warmth highlights the forecast…Both days will feature more sun than clouds; highs Friday will be in the upper 60s, followed by low to mid 70s on Saturday, which will be near record-warmth.

BEACH FORECAST CENTER: Get the latest weather and rip current forecasts for the beaches from Fort Morgan to Panama City on our Beach Forecast Center page. There, you can select the forecast of the region that you are interested in visiting.
