| January 1, 2022 @ 6:18 pm

The 80F at Birmingham today is a record for the date and just one degree short of the all-time hottest January day ever in the Magic City. That’s two degrees better than the 78F set in 1952.

Similarly, the 80F at Anniston is a record for January 1, besting the 78F recorded there in 1952 as well.

Tuscaloosa hit 83F destroying their previous hottest for the date of 80F, set also in 1952. It is also their hottest reading ever in January.
