An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

RIGHT NOW: We have a frosty morning across our state… our Skywatcher up in the northeast part of Etowah County, Vic Bell, reports that the ground “looks like it snowed” due to frost along with a temperature of 30 degrees. John Talbot in the Concord/Hueytown area is at 31; J.B. will post a long list of morning lows a little later this morning. Most of the official stations are between 32 and 35, and frost is fairly widespread.

We begin the warming process today. Maximum sunshine and a high up in the 60s. We will be close to 70 tomorrow, followed by low to mid 70s Wednesday. The first half of the week will be dry; a very welcomed chance to dry out for Alabama.

NEXT RAIN: Still looking at rain before the week is over; the GFS suggests the rain will come Thursday night, Friday, and possibly Friday night. Some tropical moisture from East Pacific Hurricane Rick will be involved, so there could be some pretty decent rain totals involved. We project rain amounts of 1 to 2 inches, and we will be more specific about timing tomorrow. The rain will end late Friday night. For now, severe weather doesn’t look to be a problem.

THE WEEKEND: Another surge of dry air moves into the state Saturday, setting up another nice weekend. Looks like sunny and pleasant weather Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the 65 to 70 degree range. Sunday morning will feature lows well down in the 40s, but it doesn’t look cold enough for more frost at this time. The dry weather should linger into Monday of next week.

STORM ALERT XTREME: Want to be trained as a storm spotter? Want to join the ABC 33/40 Skywatcher team? Our annual training event, Storm Alert Xtreme, is coming up on Saturday November 14 at the BJCC during the annual Birmingham International Auto Show. You will be trained by the best SKYWARN trainer in the nation, our own Brian Peters (he has trained over 6,000 Alabama storm spotters over the years). We encourage all of our Skywatchers to attend this every year; you simply cannot get enough training. We will begin at 9:30, and be out by 3:30. And, everyone that attends Storm Alert Xtreme gets free admission to the Alabama International Auto Show. There is no admission charge, and no need to register. Just show up, but get there early for a good seat. We had a packed house last year.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left. We will record this week’s episode tonight; our guest will be Bill Read, the director of the National Hurricane Center.

This morning I am speaking at Gaston School, which is near Gadsden… I will be back in the office by early afternoon and the next Weather Xtreme video will be posted by 3:30 this afternoon. Enjoy the day!
