Clouds Continue to Hang Around Behind the Cold Front at Midday

CONDITIONS AT MIDDAY: As of the midday roundup, all Central Alabama stations were reporting cloudy skies but ranging in temperatures from as cold as 39º in Haleyville to as warm as 74º in Eufaula. Birmingham was sitting at 44º. There were still a few showers along the cold front as it is moving over the I-85 corridor in the southeastern parts of the area. The rest of Central Alabama was dry.

REST OF YOUR FRIDAY: Clouds will continue to hang around throughout the remainder of the daylight hours, but a few breaks in the clouds may let a few rays of sunshine to reach the surface this afternoon before sunset. Temperatures will continue to fall behind the front, while a few locations in the north and northwest will actually start to warm up by a couple of degrees. Temperatures will be in the mid 40s to the lower 60s by 6 pm, and down to the mid 30s to the mid 50s by 10 pm. It will be a little chilly tonight throughout the overnight hours with mostly cloudy skies. Lows will bottom out in the lower 30s to the upper 40s.

THIS WEEKEND: The cold front will begin to lift back northward as a warm front during the day on Saturday that will bring more clouds back into the area, with showers becoming possible once again after sunset. Highs will be in the upper 40s to the lower 70s. The front will move back southward through the area on Sunday that will keep showers possible throughout the day. Highs will be in the lower 50s to the lower 70s.

NEXT WEEK: Models continue to keep us dry with comfortable afternoon and cool evenings as highs will be in the 60s to start the week and eventually warming into the mid 60s to the mid 70s by Friday. Lows will be in the 30s and 40s.
