Showers Cover Much of the Northern Parts of the Area at Midday

| February 26, 2022 @ 12:43 pm

MIDDAY UPDATE: As of 12:30 pm, we already have some shower activity that has spread over the northern half of the area, especially north of a line from Tuscaloosa to Cullman to Fort Payne. South of that, the radar is free from any precipitation. Temperatures as of the 12 pm roundup were in the mid 30s to the mid 60s across the area. Haleyville was the cold spot at 35º with light rain. Troy was the warm spot at 65º with cloudy skies. Birmingham was cloudy at 44º.

REST OF TODAY: Those showers look to continue over the northern half of the area through the rest of the daylight hours, while south of I-20 will stay dry for now. However, heavier showers will move into the north and will push rain chances into the southern half of the area down to the I-85 corridor. Today’s highs look to top out in the upper 40s to the lower 70s across the area, but it’s hard to believe that Haleyville will get that warm if it is only at 35º right now. Lows look to dip into the upper 30s to the lower 50s.

SUNDAY’S WEATHER: A surface low will have formed on the shortwave close by over Central Georgia on Sunday morning that will continue to keep showers possible across the area during the day. Eventually the shortwave moves farther away and rain chances will come to an end before sunset. Highs will be in the upper 40s to the upper 60s from northwest to southeast.
