Weather Xtreme — Heat Builds with Very Little Relief in Sight
THIS WEEKEND: We are starting off today with some clouds out there, along with some patchy fog in a few areas. Skies will become mostly clear and a few isolated showers and storms will be possible this afternoon, mainly over the extreme southern parts of Central Alabama. Highs will be in the upper 80s to the lower 90s.
Ridging takes a hold of our pattern on Sunday that will allow for heat levels to start to rise. With higher dewpoints, some locations may approach heat advisory criteria as heat index values approach 105º. Isolated afternoon showers and storms will be few and far between. Highs in the lower to mid 90s.
THE WORK WEEK AHEAD: Same story on Monday… hot and humid with mostly sunny skies. Only a very small chance of a few isolated afternoon showers and storms. Highs in the 90s. Once again, we may be flirting with heat index values near 105º.
And again on Tuesday… mostly sunny, hot, and humid. Only one or two isolated afternoon showers and storms will be possible. Highs in the 90s.
A little weakness in the ridge may allow for a few more isolated to scattered afternoon showers and storms on Wednesday, but once again, it will remain hot and humid with mostly sunny skies. Highs in the 90s.
Thursday will be very similar as skies will be mostly sunny with a chance of isolated to scattered afternoon showers and storms. Highs in the 90s.
We may see a front try to work through the area on Friday that will bring an increase to our scattered shower and storm chances. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it will help with the hot temperatures, as highs will remain in the 90s.
HOT TEMPERATURES STICK AROUND: Temperatures through the 21st of this month will remain rather similar, with highs in the mid to upper 90s and lows in the lower to mid 70s.
