Midday Nowcast: Hot and Trending Drier

| July 15, 2022 @ 10:07 am

The dog days of summer are here and will continue officially through August 11th. The weather is trending drier and bit hotter the next few days, and our Friday is featuring more sun than clouds and we are seeing temperatures climb towards the low 90s this afternoon. Rain chances are low, but not zero, and we are expecting a few “pop-up” afternoon showers and storms across the Alabama landscape. These will be few and far between, but there will be a few communities that receive a nice “summer soaker.”

WEEKEND WEATHER: No real change in the weather for Saturday and Sunday. Expect partly to mostly sunny days, fair nights, and a few showers and storms around during the afternoon and evening hours. Afternoon highs should be in the low 90s and rain chances in the 10-20% range.

NEXT WEEK: Standard summer-time weather ahead next week, with scattered, mainly afternoon and evening, showers and storms on a daily basis. Rain chances look to be in the 30-40% range. Highs should range from the low to mid 90s with a mix of sun and clouds each day.

THE TROPICS: The Atlantic Basin is quiet for now with no signs of development into next week. The season is certainly going to become more active the deeper into the season we get. The next few names up are Danielle, Earl, and Fiona.
