That low pressure area from the Gulf seems to be centered along the Mississippi Coast early this morning. It will move generally northward today.

Not raining everywhere in Alabama at this early hour but rain from this storm system has spread all the way northward to Little Rock, Nashville and the North Carolina.

Down in South Alabama, it was pouring rain from Baldwin County north to about Wilcox County. A line of intense thunderstorms with continuous lightning extended from south of Mobile out into the Gulf for about 300 miles.

It is still chilly over Noth Alabama, in the 40s, while warmer air from the Gulf has brought temperatures into the 60s over the south.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued until 5:15 am for both Escambia Counties (The one in NW Florida and the adjacent one in Extreme South Alabama. Also for Santa Rosa and SE Baldwin County.

TORNADO WATCH
It is in effect until 10 am for all of NW Florida, Extreme South Alabama and the SW corner of Georgia. It includes the south tier of Alabama counties. The Storm Prediction Center has part of Alabama under a slight risk today generally from about Mobile to Montgomery and Lafayette

And, just think, by Saturday morning, we could even see some snow flurries over parts of North Alabama!
