| November 29, 2022 @ 5:11 pm

The NWS offices in Huntsville and Birmingham have issued an AREAL FLOOD WATCH for several counties in the northern half of the state effective immediately and is currently set to expire at 6 am Wednesday morning.

North Alabama counties include: Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall, and Morgan.

Central Alabama counties include: Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, Etowah, Fayette, Jefferson, Lamar, Marion, St. Clair, Walker, and Winston.

Some locations in the watch area has already received 1 to 3 inches of rainfall, and the threat of an additional 2 to 4 inches will be possible tonight and into the overnight hours. Flooding issues rill be a result from those heavier totals thanks to excessive runoff, overflowing creeks and rivers, and low-lying locations with poor drainage.
