Warning CANCELED Tornado Warning for Portions of Winston County until 9 am; Damage Reported in Winston

The Tornado Warning has been canceled. The NWS in Huntsville has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for this storm moving into Cullman, southern Lawrence and Morgan Counties.

UPDATE 822 am
John DeBlock at the NWS Birmingham reports that debris from the Winston County tornado was lofted to 8,000 feet. They are getting reports of damage as well. The rotation has weakened temporarily and the warning will continue.

…A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 900 AM CST FOR NORTHERN
WINSTON COUNTY…

At 811 AM CST, a confirmed tornado was located over Ashridge, or 7
miles east of Haleyville, moving northeast at 45 mph.

HAZARD…Damaging tornado.

SOURCE…Radar confirmed tornado.

IMPACT…Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage
to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is
likely.

Locations impacted include…
Brushy Lake, Moreland, Inmanfield

Strong rotation indicated northwest of Double Springs in Winston County, heading toward Grayson. Move to safe shelter now if you are in the path of this storm.

* Until 900 AM CST.

* At 807 AM CST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located near Haleyville, moving northeast at 45 mph.

SOURCE…Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT…Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
damage is likely.

Haleyville, Brushy Lake, Moreland, Inmanfield, Ashridge, Weiss,
Upshaw, Sipsey River Rec Area and Grayson.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.
