Tornado Watch Issued for Portions of North Alabama Until 7 pm

The Storm Prediction Center and NWS Huntsville has issued a Tornado Watch for the following counties in the Tennessee Valley: Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, Limestone, Lawrence, Madison, and Morgan. The watch is effective until 7 pm this evening.

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Tornado Watch for portions of
Northern Alabama
South central Kentucky
Northern Mississippi
Western and middle Tennessee

* Effective this Thursday afternoon and evening from NOON until
700 PM CST.

* Primary threats include…
A few tornadoes and a couple intense tornadoes possible
Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible
Isolated large hail events to 1 inch in diameter possible

SUMMARY…Scattered strong-severe storms will spread eastward across
northern Mississippi/western and middle Tennessee into northern
Alabama and south central Kentucky through the afternoon. The storm
environment will support a threat of both supercells and bowing
segments capable of producing damaging winds and a few tornadoes,
one or two of which could be strong.
