Flood Advisory — Parts of Bibb, Chilton, Shelby, Talladega Co. Until Midnight

…FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CST TONIGHT…

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE…A portion of central Alabama, including the following
counties, Bibb, Chilton, Shelby and Talladega.

* WHEN…Until midnight CST.

* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 856 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of
rain have fallen.
– Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over
the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
– Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Hoover, Alabaster, Pelham, Helena, Calera, Chelsea,
Montevallo, Brent, Columbiana, Centreville, Jemison,
Wilsonville, Indian Springs Village, Vincent, Harpersville,
Westover, West Blocton, Wilton, Shelby County Airport and
American Village.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
