A High Wind Warning & a Wind Advisory Issued Across the Area for Friday

…HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM TO 6 PM CST FRIDAY…

* WHAT… South to southwest winds 30 to 40 mph, with gusts of 50 to 60 mph expected.

* WHERE… Portions of north central, northeast and northwest Alabama and southern middle Tennessee.

* WHEN… From 6 AM to 6 PM CST, Friday.

* IMPACTS… Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… The High Wind Warning upgrades the previous Wind Advisory.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.


…WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 9 PM CST FRIDAY…

* WHAT… South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.

* WHERE…central Alabama.

* WHEN… From midnight tonight to 9 PM CST, Friday.

* IMPACTS… Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.
