Sunday Weather Briefing – A Nice Sunday; Rain Chances Start Increasing on Tuesday

| March 5, 2023 @ 6:38 am

A FANTASTIC SUNDAY
Get ready for a fantastic day across Central Alabama. We’ll have sunny skies through the daylight hours and clear skies for the evening and overnight. Afternoon highs will top out in the 70s across the area.

THE WORK WEEK AHEAD
Monday is now trending much better as well, as skies will be sunny with warmer temperatures. Highs will top out in the upper 70s to the lower 80s.

A weak boundary will move into the area on Tuesday that will bring a chance of a few isolated showers and maybe a rumble of thunder or two. The boundary looks to stall out just to our south later in the evening, which will set the stage for higher rain chances through the remainder of the week. Highs in the mid 70s to the mid 80s.

A short wave is projected to ride along the boundary and move into Central Alabama on Wednesday, that will bring an increase to our shower chances. It will also be cooler with the cloud cover, as highs will be in the lower 60s to the upper 70s.

The pattern stays active on Thursday, as there will be a medium chance of showers and a few thunderstorms, especially over the northern half of the state. No strong storms are expected, and highs will be in the mid 60s to the upper 70s.

A trough deepens to the west on Friday, and that will push higher chances of showers and maybe a thunderstorm or two. Highs will be back up into the lower 70s to the lower 80s as we’ll start to have more of a southerly flow ahead of the trough.

NEXT WEEKEND
The trough gets closer to the southeast, and a surface low will form and move into the western parts of Central Alabama by Saturday afternoon. Rain and storms will be likely, with a few strong storms possible south of the low’s path. We’ll keep you updated through the week. Highs in the upper 50s to the upper 60s.

Rain and storms look to end early on Sunday, with improving conditions after sunrise. The rest of the day will be dry with clearing skies as high pressure begins to move in our direction. Highs in the mid 50s to the mid 60s.
