Thanks to Kevin Daughtrey for these images from Banner Elk, North Carolina… he writes:

“Due to the poor visibility and drifting snow these pictures may not be of high quality! I will take more pics tomorrow in daylight hours and will forward them as well!

Current conditions;
24.6 degrees
Wind Chill at 12 degrees
Between 10-13 Inches of Snow with much higher accumulations in spots
High Winds and drifting snow have resulted in many road closings

The Weather should be much nicer in Pasadena on January 7th!”

One note: I don’t believe the NWS or TV weather people had a good grasp on the magnitude of this snow event until it was less than 48 hours from happening. This is a challenging pattern, and with every system that comes at us expect surprises. That is why I don’t sit on the edge of my seat looking at every computer model run concerning our pre-Christmas storm. Just look at the pattern and what is has produced so far. It will be very fun to watch the weather around here this coming week, and perhaps deeper into the winter season…
