Watch Expired, New Storms Forming Northwest Alabama

| April 27, 2023 @ 11:12 pm

The storm approaching the Birmingham Metro area fell nearly completely apart. It is a lone shower now approaching I-65 in Hoover.

There is a strong storm in Alabama over Sumter County southeast of Livingston. It will move in the general direction of Demopolis but should weaken with time.

New storms have formed in West Central Alabama over Lamar County. They will be moving northeast, instead of east-southeast, and will move into Marion County and northwestern Fayette County. These storms may be elevated, or rooted above the surface.

None of the storms in Mississippi are severe at this time. They extend from Holly Springs to Oxford to near Grenada.

The severe thunderstorm watch has expired and is no longer in effect.

Those storms appear to be losing steam and may not even make it into Alabama. We will keep an eye on them.

Severe is expected to be concentrated over Texas and parts of Oklahoma. The Dallas-Fort Worth area has an enhanced risk.

The southern half of Alabama will see a chance of severe weather on Saturday. The threat will be south of US-80.
