New Warnings for East Central Alabama
The US-280 Corridor is the focus this afternoon as showers and storms slowly intensify over the East Central part of the state. A new warning for Chambers, Coosa and Tallapoosa Counties until 2:45 pm. Winds of 60s mph and .75 inch hail likely with this storms that extends from New Site to Kellyton to northwest of Rockford. The top of this storm has reached nearly 60,000 feet in the atmosphere. The 40 db echo is up around 58,000 and the 50 db echo to 45,000 feet.
Another warning for Lee and Russell til 230 pm. Storms along US-80 from Society Hill to Crawford are dropping southeast at 20 mph toward Hatchechobee and Seale in Russell County. Hail to .88 inches and 60 mph winds possible with this storm. There were several reports of 1 inch hail with this storm as it moved through the Auburn area.
Lots of lightning in both storms, with nearly 60 flashes per minute in the Russell County storm.
