Bunches and bunches of folks (better known as football fans) headed west today for the BCS National Championship game between Texas and Alabama Thursday evening.

Most will be flying today since time is very short to drive that far before the game. At mid-morning, there was no precipitation between Birmingham and Los Angeles. The low temperature there this morning was 38 degrees warmer than Birmingham (53 compared to 15) The high in downtown LA yesterday was 78.

FORECAST: Excellent football weather. No rain is mentioned in the area forecast from today through next Tuesday. Most days will be sunny or partly sunny. Highs in the 70s today and near 70 Thursday.
